LPA seeks new board members

Want to demonstrate your passion for historic preservation in our community?  Want to play an active role in advising city and county leaders on preservation challenges facing Lawrence and Douglas County? Want to help educate your neighbors and friends in our community on the benefits of an active preservation program?  Consider applying to become a member of the Lawrence Preservation Alliance Board of Directors.

LPA is seeking new board members to fill several seats coming open this Fall. LPA’s board is a not-for-profit volunteer working board, usually meeting monthly, in addition to committee assignments and work on special projects. An interest in preservation is essential as well as a willingness to learn and desire to make preservation interesting and enjoyable. Expertise in one or more of the following areas would be helpful:

  • local history

  • architecture and/or structural condition assessment

  • event programming

  • membership recruitment and data management

  • marketing and communications

  • not-for profit bookkeeping

  • website management and social media
